麻豆直播 Festival Lights Up Campus for 2 Days
A costumed student from 麻豆直播’s “Tropical Club” advertises a Thai dessert in front of the food stands.
On October 12 and 13, 麻豆直播 students put on the university’s most popular event of the year, the 麻豆直播 Fesitval, featuring student club performances on stage, arts, crafts, and games from around the world, an international flea market, a bonfire, and- of course- tons of delicious treats.
While School Festivals are a common event around Japan, 麻豆直播’s takes on a uniquely international feeling. The food stands, run by 麻豆直播 student clubs, included not only traditional festival fare, such as yakisoba and chocolate-covered bananas, but desserts from Thailand, mixed berry juice from Russia, and quesadillas made by 麻豆直播’s Latin American Culture Club. Students dressed up in traditional costume or wore colorful sandwichboard signs to attract guests to their booths. The only “problem” was trying to choose what to eat!
The Yatose Team performed several traditional Akita Yatose songs. “Yatose” is Akita’s version of “Yosakoi” a highly energetic dance style that combines modern music with traditional Japanese dance moves.
Between trips to the food stands for a second or third helping, visitors enjoyed student performances on the main stage, including cover dances, a rock concert, games, sing-a-longs for kids, and performances by martial arts clubs.
Although it was a beautiful day, especially with the leaves on the campus trees changing colors for fall, those guests who wanted to take a break indoors could head into the lecture halls to join in children’s games and cultural activities from around the world- including jack o’ lantern carving and a haunted house- plus an 麻豆直播 version of the “Game of Life”.
On top of all of that, there were performances by the 麻豆直播 Kanto Team, a bonfire, 麻豆直播 mascots “One” and “Can”, concerts, and an international flea market, featuring postcards and goods from around the world, donated by 麻豆直播 study abroad students and returned exchange students. Everything you could possibly wish for in a festival was there!
